Severed Arm Prop. Prop Severed Limbs.
Severed Arm Prop

The cast is stained by airbrushing inks and gently building up shades of colour and veins, cuts and bruising are added. Open wounds are created by cutting into the plastic, heating the edges with a hot air gun and flaring them out to give them the look of torn flesh. With the paint job complete, fine hairs are added to the forearm for added realism.

A 'stump' is created using latex and foam painted in deep reds and browns, and is fixed into the open end of the casting to complete the piece. The prop is sent to the client and a few weeks later, the prop appears in print (click on the image on the lower right to see the full size poster) Extra blood is added at the shoot to give a 'freshly cut' look and drips of blood were added digitally to complete the look of the prop.
