After
the silicone has been applied and smoothed evenly onto the skin,
a layer of hessian is added to give additional strength to what
will be a long, flexible mould. More silicone is added to bind
the hessian into the structure. A layer of plaster bandage is
added which will support the flexible silicone layer. The underside
is covered first, and when it is thoroughly dry it is given
a coat of release and then the top layer is added to complete
the rigid shell (mother mould).
