| Some
of the castings are taken in fibre glass, and some in silicone
depending on whether or not they will have to flex on the final
animatronic. Computer controlled hydraulics, pneumatics and servos
will all be used to move the creature. The fibre glass castings
are screwed and bolted together and steel understructures and
mechanisms are built to go inside them. Lightweight yet strong
structures must be built to withstand the forces and strains put
on the animatronic as it will be running every day at a theme
park. |
|
The
T-rex must not be fully constructed as it needs to be shipped
to the theme park and be erected on-site, where 3 tonnes of
granite filled concrete has been poured into the ground to support
the massive animatronic. Steel legs will be placed 4ft into
the ground and more concrete will be poured in to ensure the
model never works itself free from the ground. |
